Divided Roots
Where Division Becomes Growth
This adaptive reuse project reimagines a site along Akron’s Innerbelt corridor as a dynamic community hub rooted in connection and growth. Titled Divided Roots and completed in collaboration with Kasandra Rea, the design explores division as a catalyst rather than a barrier, inspired by the way roots push through resistance to flourish. The space supports local entrepreneurship and creative exchange through a vendor marketplace, cafe, and flexible gathering areas that adapt to both daily use and community events. By prioritizing shared experience over separation, the project creates a platform where culture, commerce, and creativity intersect. Divided Roots transforms a historically fragmented context into a space for collective momentum, allowing Akron’s community to take root and grow.
